Compare top business VoIP providers on the market and find the ideal service to suit your needs.

Overview

OnSIP business VoIP offers feature-rich phone systems for businesses with flexible pricing and excellent customer support. OnSIP customers include well-established brands like Mozilla, Tumblr, Disqus, and Cloudera. Their impressive features such as video conferencing or instant video chat via websites provide seamless communication with customers. In addition, businesses get promotions like cash credits for purchasing additional equipment or referring another business to their service.

Who’s OnSIP For?

OnSIP makes a great choice for small businesses looking for a solid service with top-notch customer support. Businesses benefit from a user-friendly VoIP system with outstanding, personalized customer service. The company frequently rolls out new features so you can take advantage of the latest communication tools on the market. OnSIP also works great with both desktop phone and mobile systems.

If you run a business on a tight budget, OnSIP doesn’t offer the cheapest phone system out there. However, you may want to pay extra for outstanding customer support, ease of use, and features.

Ease of Use

The convenient 30 day free trial gives customers the chance to try out OnSIP for themselves and test out the different features before committing. The OnSIP customer portal has an easy to use interface to set up and navigate. That being said, some customers report having a difficult time recording outgoing messages and reviewing incoming messages.

Plans

Customers can choose from four different plans with flexible pricing options including a Free Plan, Pay as You Go, Metered, and Unlimited Use. The Free Plan comes with internet calling only and basic features such as a 100 user limit, web voice calling, web video calling, multi-party video, and unlimited extensions.

Upgrading to paid plans or pay as you go comes with enhanced features. The Pay as You Go plan, for example, includes features such as auto-attendant, external PSTN calling, 5 voicemail boxes, 3 ring groups, dial by name directory, call recording, and music on hold. The Pay as You Go plan allows customers to purchase additional apps a la carte with a 30 day free trial on all apps.

The Metered plan comes with all of the features included in the Pay as You Go Plan as well as a voice mailbox that forwards to email text, ring group, dial by name directory, announcements, an enhanced music on hold channel, a busy lamp field, and call parking. The Unlimited Plan includes everything from both the Pay as You Go and Metered Plans plus unlimited standard area calling and call recording.

Features

OnSIP offers over 50 different features for phone systems that improve communication for businesses without piling on expensive fees. Available features depend on the plan and range from free plans to the unlimited user package. Even the free plan comes with important internet calling features like web voice calling, web video calling, web phones, and web call links.

Upgraded paid plans include features like voicemail boxes to email, ring groups, auto attendants, dial by name directory, call recording, music on hold, and announcements. Customers can purchase additional features a la carte such as additional voicemail boxes, simple queue, enhanced music on hold, inbound bridge, busy lamp field, enhanced queue and dashboard, conference suite bundle, on net conference suite, and more.

On the technical side of things, OnSIP engineers built their platform based primarily on OpenSIPS and FreeSwitch. OnSIP operates a distributed federated SIP platform, a signaling fabric of SIP proxy servers that hand off traffic to the application servers. OnSIP uses its own custom node.js implementation to drive Freeswitch via event socket control.

Keep in mind that OnSIP doesn’t provide auto provisioning on phones if they do not support secure provisioning. If you plan to buy new IP phones, make sure that the phones can support the OnSIP server. One OnSIP VoIP review states that the service recommends using the VVX 300, for example.

Business Offerings

Enhanced features such as the instant video chat available on your website impress customers with seamless, quality communications. In addition to the host of professional features offered by OnSIP Business VoIP, customers get incentives with the OnSIP referral program and promotions. With OnSIP promotions, customers receive cash credits for referring a friend or purchasing phones through OnSIP.

Customer Support

OnSIP has a US based customer support team with excellent service. OnSIP reviews consistently give positive feedback. Friendly, approachable staff guide users. OnSIP resellers earn a commission and provide dedicated support to each customer. An online OnSIP review illustrates just how great the service really is:

“Within a few days of signing up one of their minions called and introduced himself as the primary contact for our account, gave us his direct number and email, said to call him straight away if we had any issues or questions.”

You can get in touch via Facebook or Twitter as well as by submitting an online contact form. OnSIP also hosts an online FAQ and support page for customer self-service.

Word on the Street

After reading any OnSIP Phone review, you’ll quickly discover why this company has become such a popular communications tool for small businesses. The OnSIP staff and engineers frequently participate in online forums and answer any questions people may have about the service. You can get plenty of information before signing up or visit sites like Reddit to find out information on troubleshooting, installation, and features.

OnSIP doesn’t have a large following on Facebook, and just over 1,000 people follow the page. This also makes it difficult to read any OnSIP service review and find out about the company before signing up.

On the Better Business Bureau website, you’ll experience something similar. Although the BBB gives OnSIP an A+ rating, again, the page does not have a review of OnSIP by former or current customers.

The internet isn’t entirely silent about OnSIP,  however. You can find OnSIP reviews on Reddit, for example. Positive reviews praise OnSIP for its high level of customer service. OnSIP staff, including the company’s CEO, have also joined in on the discussions on Reddit. When was the last time you saw a CEO give direct communication to customers online? This attests to the company’s high level of service.

Reddit forums also give prospective or current customers a chance to get in touch with customer service directly. You can also look at Reddit threads to find answers before taking the time to contact support yourself.
